Welcome to St. Kevin's Church
St. Kevin’s Church, part of the Blessington Union of Parishes, is a beautiful historic church nestled in the heart of County Wicklow in Hollywood. Built in c. 1680, it is one of the oldest churches in Ireland which remains in use and which has a corbelled roof.
It is also one of the last churches in Ireland which uses gas lamps for lighting.
The church is the starting place for the 'Camino de Glendalough', a route which follows the ancient pilgrim trail to the ancient monastic city of Glendalough.
St. Kevin's church, due to its unique accoustics which are formed by its corbelled brick roof, has been used as a recording studio by artists and groups such as Phil Coulter, the Voice Squad, Sinead O'Connor, the Chieftans and Altan. The church is also used by local community groups for musical recitals and performances.
In addition to its religious and musical heritage, St. Kevin's has also been used as a filming location for Irish and international films and series. Actors such as Liam Neeson, Colm Meaney and Florence Pugh have all shot scenes at St. Kevin's
